Try to make a hard reset of your ZPEN, for this doing insert a sharp object into the hole situated below the receiver. Connect the receiver on the USB port again. If the ZPEN is still not recognized, it is possible that the problem is due to a problem of drivers on your Operating System.
In the most of case this is due to the Operating System configuration (USB recognition).
To solve the problem, in a first time you should plug the product on USB port located at the back of your PC (supply stability).
Under Windows XP:
1. Delete your ZPEN device in the device manager (can be represented as a yellow exclamation point)
2. Restart the system.
3. Connect your ZPEN. It must be recognized automatically.
Otherwise try to install your ZPEN manually, you have to precise the path c:windowsinf.
Another solution is to remove all USB drivers and to install them again. The CD of Windows XP is required for this:
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, proceed as follows (CD XP required):
1. Click on Start, Control Panel, then Performance and Maintenance.
2. Click on System, then on the Hardware tab.
3. Click on the Device Manager button.
4. Develop USB bus controllers.
5. Right click on all peripheral USB bus controllers’ nodes, and then click on ‘’remove’’ to delete them one by one.
6. Restart the computer, then reinstall the USB Controllers (CD WINDOWS XP).
7. Plug the USB removable storage device (receiver of ZPEN) on the USB port, and then try to verify that the problem is solved.
If the ZPEN is not recognized even after all these manipulations, check that your ZPEN is not plugged before windows starts. Before connecting your key to your PC, make sure that all USB ports are well validated in the BIOS, and ensure that the starting of Windows is well ended (you must to see all icons on the desktop).
In last please contact Microsoft for further help concerning this problem of operating system.
Under VISTA:
Vista already contains drivers for USB devices.
But like every new OS of Windows (in particular basic OS) they are some problems, in particular with USB peripherals.
Try to make an update of your OS, or to contact Microsoft or your computer manufacturer.
However, here is an advice which can help you to install the ZPEN (as removable disk) manually:
In fact, the required driver that is useful for the recognizing of your USB device is already contained in Vista. But you must to define the path manually.
For this doing, choose "search a driver on my computer (advanced)" during the installation, and give the information "C:WINDOWSwinsxs".
Click on 'next' until the end of the installation.
Your USB device is successfully installed and can be used now.
If the ZPEN is still not recognized, try the same manipulation, but this time specify the path "C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32" (You probably have to repeat this procedure many times for a complete installation of the USB device).
If the ZPEN is well recognized on another computer and not on yours, please contact the Microsoft support who will help you to solve this problem of Operating System.
